What Is a Theppanom? Meaning of the Statue

The name Theppanom (Thai: เทพพนม, also Thep Phanom or Teppanom) combines Thep – celestial being – and Phanom – folded hands. It depicts a celestial being showing veneration with raised, folded hands. In Thailand, Theppanom figures stand guard at temples, palaces and important buildings.
