Theppanom Statue from Thailand – Hand-Carved Temple Guardian for Reception, Spa & Restaurant

Guests decide within seconds whether they feel welcome. This hand-carved Theppanom statue does exactly that job: the kneeling Thai temple guardian greets your guests with the traditional wai gesture – just as in every Thai temple.

At 94 cm or 120 cm tall, with a golden robe and sparkling glass mosaic, this wooden Thai statue is not mass-produced decor but genuine Thai craftsmanship – a one-of-a-kind piece that gives your massage studio, spa or restaurant unmistakable authenticity.

What Is a Theppanom? Meaning of the Statue

The name Theppanom (Thai: เทพพนม, also Thep Phanom or Teppanom) combines Thep – celestial being – and Phanom – folded hands. It depicts a celestial being kneeling in veneration. In Thailand, Theppanom figures adorn temple gates, gables and altars.

Protection & blessing: for the place and everyone who enters it.
Respect & hospitality: expressed through the wai, the Thai greeting.
Calm & harmony: a gentle, inviting presence.

Good to know: Unlike the fierce Yaksha guardians (Yak), the Theppanom looks gentle and benevolent. And since it is not a Buddha, it is particularly well suited as respectful decor in business premises.

Added Value for Your Business

First impressions count. A genuine temple statue shows your guests at once that Thai tradition is truly lived in your business – and visibly sets your studio or restaurant apart from the competition. It looks especially harmonious together with the Sawadee Lady welcome figurine or the standing Theppanom (160 cm).

Placement: How the Statue Looks Its Best

Choose the spot: At the entrance, next to the reception desk or in the lobby – wherever your guests arrive.
Align it: Place the statue facing the door so it greets your guests with the wai.
Light it up: A spotlight or warm light from above makes the gold and glass mosaic sparkle.
Combine: As a pair on either side of the entrance – just like at Thai temples – or together with other statues from Thailand.

Location: The statue is made for indoor use. A dry, covered entrance is possible – rain, frost and direct sunlight, however, will damage the wood, gilding and mosaic.

FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions about the Theppanom Statue

What does Theppanom mean?

Theppanom (เทพพนม) literally means “celestial being with folded hands”. The statue shows a celestial being kneeling in veneration and stands for protection, blessing and respect in Thailand.

Is the Theppanom a Buddha statue?

No. The Theppanom is a celestial being paying homage to the Buddha. That makes it a respectful choice for decorating studios, restaurants and hotels.

Which size suits my business?

The small statue (approx. 94 × 25 × 30 cm, approx. 12 kg) fits next to a reception desk, a sideboard or in smaller entrance areas. The large statue (approx. 120 × 38 × 35 cm, approx. 24 kg) makes its full impact in large entrances, lobbies and dining rooms. On both sizes the top is removable. As each statue is handmade, dimensions and weight may vary slightly.

Can I place the statue outdoors?

We recommend indoor use. A dry, covered entrance is possible – but rain, frost and direct sunlight can permanently damage the wood, gilding and glass mosaic.

What do the museum stamp and approval mean?

The statue bears the stamp of the Chiang Mai National Museum and was exported with the approval of the Fine Arts Department of Thailand. This confirms that it is traditional Thai craftsmanship that was legally exported from Thailand.

Will my statue look exactly like the photos?

Every statue is hand-carved and unique. Grain, carving details and mosaic therefore vary slightly – that is exactly the charm of genuine handwork.

Can I order two statues as a pair?

Yes. Simply add the desired quantity to your cart. For larger quantities or a complete studio fit-out, write to us by email or WhatsApp – we will prepare an individual quote for you.

How is the statue delivered?

The statue is available for immediate delivery and is shipped from Germany to the whole EU – free shipping within Germany. Both sizes are securely packed and sent as a regular parcel, so no freight delivery is needed.
