Thai Massage Mattress for the Floor – Firm, Hygienic, with Face Hole

Traditional Thai massage takes place on the floor: the therapist kneels next to the client, works with hands, elbows, knees and feet and uses their body weight. The Kitama Thai massage mattress is made for exactly that – extra firm in firmness H5, around 7 cm high and with a face hole for relaxed lying in the prone position.

The mattress is made in Thailand. The very dark brown, almost black faux leather cover with zip is easy to wipe clean and looks calm and high-quality in the treatment room. A matching cushion plug for the face hole is included – giving you a continuous lying surface for treatments in the supine position.

Firmness H5: 6.5 cm Bonded Foam

The heart of the mattress is a 6.5 cm core of high-density bonded foam. It is considerably firmer than a normal foam mat – so the client stays stably supported, even when you apply targeted pressure with your knee or elbow.

No sinking in: Point pressure is absorbed instead of pressing through to the floor.
Stable stretches: Firm support for the stretches and leverage techniques of Thai massage.
For continuous use: Designed for daily operation in the studio.

Good to know: H5 feels very firm when you first lie on it. For Thai massage this is intentional – your clients still lie comfortably because the pressure is distributed over the entire surface.

Delivered Rolled: How to Unpack the Mattress Correctly

So that we can ship the mattress as a parcel, it is rolled for transport. Rolling – and especially cool temperatures – makes the filling contract slightly. On arrival the mattress may therefore appear shorter than 200 cm. This is normal and not a defect.

Unpack immediately: Open the box right after delivery. Cut the film carefully – never with the knife pointing towards the cover.
Unroll & lay flat: Unroll the mattress in a room at normal room temperature and lay it flat on the floor.
A little patience: As a rule, the mattress reaches its full size after a few days or a few treatments.
Insert the plug: If required, press the cushion plug into the face hole – done.

Why rolled? This is the only way we can ship the mattress as a parcel and keep shipping costs low – within Germany, shipping is even free. Packed flat, only far more expensive freight shipping would be possible.

On the Floor – or in a Self-Built Wooden Frame

The mattress shows its strengths directly on the floor: on parquet, laminate or tiles it lies stably and provides the firmness that traditional Thai massage needs.

Many studios also build their own wooden frame with a recess and place the mattress inside – so you work slightly raised and the mattress sits securely. Thanks to its rectangular, dimensionally accurate shape it is very well suited for this.

Tip for self-builders: After delivery, first unroll the mattress and wait until it has reached its full size. Only then measure and plan the recess for a height of approx. 7 cm. This mattress is not suitable for our stationary Kitama massage table – for that there is the replacement mattress with multiplex board.

Store correctly: Store the mattress flat and do not keep it rolled or folded for long periods. The cover can be opened via the zip for cleaning.
