For your own scent experience, you can enrich it with fragrance oils free from allergens requiring declaration (recommended concentration: max. 0.2–0.4 %) or pure essential oils – ideal for your signature concept in clinic and studio.

Note: Unlike pure paraffin oil, blends with plant oils can oxidise over time. We therefore recommend preparing blends fresh.

How can I recognise a legally compliant massage oil?

Massage oils are cosmetic products and must comply with the EU Cosmetics Regulation (EC) No 1223/2009. All required documentation is available for Kitama Neutral Massage Oil:

Is the neutral massage oil suitable for allergy sufferers and sensitive skin?

Yes. The oil contains no essential oils, fragrances, colourants or plant proteins – so the risk of allergies is very low. In the clinical patch test by Dermatest, its skin compatibility was rated “Excellent”.

For clients with known skin conditions, we recommend testing the oil on a small area of skin first.

Which professional applications is the oil suitable for?

It is used in Thai massage studios, physiotherapy clinics, sports massage and wellness and spa facilities. It is particularly convincing in leverage-intensive treatments and long massages thanks to its long glide phase, as it hardly absorbs into the skin.

Can I add my own essential oils?

Yes. As an odourless base oil, it is an ideal carrier oil for individual aromatherapy. Depending on the treatment, you can add pure essential oils or fragrance oils free from allergens requiring declaration (max. 0.2–0.4 %).

What is Kitama Neutral Massage Oil made of?

The massage oil consists of 100 % paraffinum liquidum in pharmaceutical pharmacopoeia quality (Ph. Eur. / DAB) and cosmetic grade. It is colourless and odourless and contains no fragrances or colourants.

Does the oil absorb into the skin or stay on the surface?

Mineral-based oils such as paraffinum liquidum absorb only minimally into the skin. It forms a fine film on the skin surface that provides a long-lasting, even glide – without constant reapplication.

Is the massage oil easy to wash off the skin?

Yes. After treatment, it can easily be removed with warm water and a little soap or shower gel. In everyday practice, wiping off excess oil with a warm towel beforehand has also proven effective.

Does the massage oil stain or damage textiles?

As a rule, no. As the oil is colourless and – unlike many plant oils – does not oxidise, it does not cause yellowish stains or rancid odours in towels and table covers.

Is there a difference in shelf life compared to plant oils?

Yes. Once opened, plant oils oxidise over time when exposed to oxygen, go rancid and develop unpleasant odours. Paraffinum liquidum, on the other hand, is oxidation-stable and retains its quality for a long time when stored properly.

How should towels and linen soiled with massage oil be washed?

The right care depends on the oil used:

A) Pure paraffinum liquidum

Advantage: Does not oxidise – therefore no rancid odours and no risk of spontaneous combustion through oxidation in the tumble dryer.
Washing recommendation: Wash at 60 °C to 90 °C with a powerful heavy-duty detergent, adding a grease remover if necessary. Do not use fabric softener.

B) Plant oils and blends with plant oils

Caution: Plant oils easily become resinous in the fibres. If the oil is not washed out completely, there is a real risk of spontaneous combustion in a hot tumble dryer – this also applies if you blend Kitama oil with plant oils.
