Experience the soothing benefits of herbal compress massage – a traditional healing method from Thailand that relaxes both body and mind. At the My Thai Massage Shop, you will find the right accessories to offer your customers the full experience of this traditional massage technique.
Kitama Thai herbal compresses are handcrafted and made from a blend of aromatic herbs and spices, wrapped in a cotton cloth and shaped into a compress. We offer authentic Thai herbal compresses for both the body and the face. Body compresses contain a strong herbal mixture designed primarily to promote muscle relaxation. These body compresses may help loosen muscle tension, relieve pain and support overall relaxation. We offer these body herbal compresses in the following sizes: 200g, 150g or 100g. You will also find special Thai herbal compresses for the face in our online shop. These facial compresses contain a gentle herbal blend and are primarily used for relaxation and stress reduction as part of aromatherapy. They nourish and revitalise the skin, helping to clarify the complexion, refine pores, improve skin texture and reduce visible signs of ageing. We offer these Thai facial herbal compresses in the 50g size.
Special Blend of Thai Herbs and Spices
A unique combination of traditional herbs creates a holistic effect on both the body and the senses. The herbal compresses are typically heated and pressed onto the skin, releasing the essential oils and therapeutic benefits of the ingredients. This can help relieve muscle tension, reduce pain, nourish the skin and promote overall well-being. We source our Kitama Thai herbal compresses from a government-certified producer in Chiang Mai, ensuring reliable and consistent quality.
Our herbal compresses contain:
✅ Yellow turmeric
✅ Black turmeric
✅ White turmeric
✅ Galangal (Zingiber cassumunar)
✅ Camphor
In traditional Thai massage culture, these herbs are believed to offer the following benefits:
- Anti-inflammatory effects: Turmeric contains the bioactive compound curcumin, known for its strong anti-inflammatory properties. During a herbal compress massage, curcumin may help reduce muscle and joint inflammation and relieve pain. Zingiber cassumunar (Thai Phlai) also contains bioactive compounds with anti-inflammatory effects, beneficial especially for muscle and joint discomfort.
- Muscle relaxation: When heated, the herbal compresses are pressed onto the skin, allowing warmth and active compounds to penetrate the muscles, helping to loosen and relax them. Camphor has cooling, pain-relieving and soothing properties that positively support the muscles.
- Stress relief: The natural aroma of the herbs can have a calming effect and promote relaxation. The aromatic properties during a compress massage may help reduce stress and support overall well-being.
- Skin care: Turmeric, galangal and camphor are also known for their potential skin benefits. They may help soothe irritation, calm the skin and support a clearer complexion.
- Energy and circulation: Massaging with herbal compresses containing this special blend can stimulate circulation, promote energy flow and increase vitality.
Additional Ingredients:
✅ Kaffir lime leaves – These leaves have a refreshing aroma that may help with relaxation and stress relief.
✅ Lemongrass – Lemongrass has a fresh scent and anti-inflammatory properties that can help soothe the skin.
✅ Tamarind leaves – Tamarind leaves are believed to have calming and revitalising effects.
✅ Eucalyptus leaves – Eucalyptus leaves are used mainly for their fresh and invigorating aroma.
Instructions for Use:
- Remove the herbal compresses from the packaging and heat them using steam (approx. 20 minutes). A steam cooker is ideal for this purpose. You can find our steam cooker with warming function here.
- Carefully remove the compresses from the steamer and check the temperature. Caution: risk of burns. Once comfortably warm, press and massage the compresses onto the body using circular movements.
- After the treatment, allow the compresses to dry and cool down. The used compresses can then be disposed of. For hygienic reasons, Kitama herbal compresses are not suitable for multiple use.
