Dermatest: skin compatibility rated “sehr gut” (excellent)

Our Neutral Massage Oil, our Thai Sabai massage oil and all Kitama aroma oils were tested for skin compatibility by the independent institute Dermatest in 2026 using an epicutaneous patch test and received the rating “sehr gut” (excellent).

Using massage oil correctly in the studio

  1. Refill hygienically: transfer the oil from the canister into clean dispenser or pump bottles using a canister pump.
  2. Warm slightly: pre-warmed oil feels much more pleasant on the skin. Always test the temperature on your own skin first.
  3. Dose sparingly: spread the oil in your hands first and only add more when needed – this keeps the glide even.
  4. Choose the right oil: ask about allergies and scent preferences beforehand – neutral oil for sensitive clients, aroma oil for a special fragrance experience.
  5. Store correctly: keep cool, dry and away from light, and close containers tightly after use.

FAQ – Frequently asked questions about massage oil

Which massage oil do Thai massage studios use?

For Thai oil massage, studios usually use neutral base oils such as our Thai Sabai or Neutral Massage Oil; for Thai aroma oil massage, scented aroma oils such as lemongrass, jasmine or Dok Mok. Many studios offer both and let their clients choose the scent.

What does the Dermatest rating “sehr gut” (excellent) mean?

Dermatest is an independent institute that tests the skin compatibility of products. Our Neutral Massage Oil, our Thai Sabai massage oil and all Kitama aroma oils were tested in 2026 using an epicutaneous patch test and rated “sehr gut” (excellent). You can download the certificate on each product page.

Where are Kitama massage oils made?

All Kitama massage oils are Made in Germany. The scents of our aroma oils are deliberately chosen to be particularly authentic Thai – combining German manufacturing quality with a genuine Thai spa feeling.

Which massage oil is suitable for sensitive skin and allergy sufferers?

We recommend our Neutral Massage Oil made from pure pharmacopoeia-grade paraffin oil – without colourants, preservatives or fragrances. If you prefer a plant oil, Pure Naturals is a vegan, fragrance-free alternative. Always ask your clients about known allergies beforehand.

What is the difference between base oil and aroma oil?

Base oils are unscented and serve as a neutral foundation for massage or for your own blends with essential oils. Aroma oils already contain fragrance and are ready to use for a scented aroma oil massage.

In which sizes is Kitama massage oil available?

Depending on the oil, we offer 250 ml, 500 ml, 1 L, 5 L and 10 L. For studios with high consumption the canisters are particularly worthwhile. Matching canister pumps for clean refilling can be found in our massage oil accessories section.

Are there volume prices or a minimum order value?

Yes, we offer generous volume discounts. There is no minimum order value or minimum order quantity.

Where can I find ingredients, safety data sheets and certificates?

Each product page lists the full ingredients and offers downloads of the safety data sheet, the Product Information File (PIF) confirmation and – for the tested oils – the Dermatest certificate.

Do you deliver massage oil to other European countries?

Yes, all products can be delivered throughout Europe – including the 5 L and 10 L canisters. More than 10,000 massage studios across Europe already source their products from us.

Can base oils be mixed with essential oils?

Yes. Our neutral base oils as well as jojoba, almond, grapeseed and fractionated coconut oil are excellent carrier oils for essential oils. This lets you create your own signature studio scent.

How long does massage oil keep and how should it be stored?

Store massage oil in a cool, dry place away from light and close containers tightly after each use. Jojoba oil is known for its particularly long shelf life as it does not go rancid. The best-before date is shown on every label.

Do business customers receive an invoice without VAT?

Companies from EU countries outside Germany with a valid VAT ID receive their invoice without German VAT (reverse charge procedure). Customers based in Germany receive a regular invoice including VAT.
